Dilophiraptor Running small.gif

The Dilophiraptor is one of the many raptor types that inhabit Primeval Forests. Wasteland scavengers, Dilophiraptors at full size are still mildly slower than their kin, but instead posses more powerful jaws and ranged attacks to make up the difference. Their scaly exterior no longer glows an orangish red hue. The Dilophiraptor has now fully developed the large frills around it's head and has learned a clever means of using them. Now the large neck frill is a primary means of clever offense, rather than defense. While developing, Upon spotting prey, or being hunted or cornered the Dilophiraptor raises and pulsates it's large frill, distracting the target. The moment a creature becomes distracted, the Dilophiraptor unleashes a barrage of deadly poisoned quills. Powerful enough to kill smaller prey outright, and severely wound larger predators. Upon spotting prey, the Dilophiraptor let's out a fierce chicken sounding cry, signaling the hunt.

This creature is capable of a moderate sprint, able to close distance to most prey. Dilophiraptors prefer to hunt smaller targets as their long necks and ranged quills make short work of any creature smaller than itself.

All raptors are found on any form of Primeval Forest planets.

Luna's Lab Notes

~ The process of capturing and storing a monsters potential within capture pods is currently still a developing field. As it is now, the baseline for most creatures captured and stored within capture pods is around 50% efficiency when compared to their wildlife counterparts. Having less vitality and strength than when they roamed free. However, with the Dilophiraptor, their strength and vitality is reduced to a mere 20% of their wildlife counterparts upon capture.

~ The spines fired from the Dilophiraptors are exceptionally deadly. All 4-5 are fired in rapid succession, typically hitting a target all at once and with little time to react. In addition, this ranged attack is quite accurate when used on the flat plains that this creature typically hunts. Lastly, in T7 armor, taking a hit from all 4-5 spines takes about 25% health down at once - this isn't including the lingering poison damage. (which could be considered minimal when compared to the massive damage dealt up front if you are hit by this attack in full).

~ The Dilophiraptor deals approximately 20% more damage on all attacks when compared to it's other raptor kin.

~ The Dilophiraptor could be considered a specialist in hunting and killing small, land based prey. Having many different attacks that strike low to the ground, this raptor typically decimates other small creatures in a fight.

~ Fiercely territorial, Dilophiraptors abandon their offspring at a young age and let them fend for themselves. If a Dilophiraptor encounters a Baby raptor, even it's own offspring, the adult will attempt to hunt, kill, and eat the Baby. Below is a list of noted interactions among species raptor species.
