Shrine of Lost Souls periodically spawns friendly ghost animals (same type as from Dead Animal augment, but not necessarily cats). It can also be used to craft improved Erchius Buddy backpacks, which (unlike the original Erchius Buddy) don't have a -10 defense penalty.
