Contrary to what's implied in the tooltip, the shots from this weapon are a mix of damage types: mostly energy, some fire, and a little bit of ice and physical damage. The alt-fire summons three small, floating drones that engage with foes. The drones deal miniscule damage with tiny beam attacks from melee range, which typically causes them to die quickly when the enemy moves through them. Nevertheless, they can provide a brief distraction.
