Item Utilities (Electronics tree).Repeater is a relay for Item Transference Devices (and other item-related devices: Terminals, Spouts, etc.)
- Example #1: if you connect: (1) Output of two chests to Input of a Repeater, and (2) Output of Repeater to Input of Terminal,
- ...then this Terminal will "see" the contents of both chests.
- Example #2: if you connect Input of 10 Growing Trays to Output of a Repeater, and Output of Item Transference Device (ITD) to Input of Repeater,
- ...then this ITD will move items into all 10 trays. This is very useful for supplying Trays with water/fertilizer.
Chaining repeaters
Repeaters can be chained: wiring like "Something -> Repeater -> Repeater -> ITD" will work with any number of repeaters. This can often make wiring cleaner (easier to see, less confusing), especially in complicated factories.
Chained repeaters can also be used to transfer items over long distances. Beware of performance implications: if you try to move Lava from the core to the surface, it will have the same impact as having too many Watchers. Moving items to/from 2-3 screens away should be fine.
Lifehack for cleaner wiring
Great approach for new players: you can clearly see all 5 wires.
Great approach for complex bases/factories: all 5 wires overlap, which reduces the number of wires on screen.
