Dead Core is a block with 2048 hitpoints (mining these blocks is extremely slow), and the only block that can survive a Meteor hit. It can be found in the core layer of Moons (33% chance) and Desert/Toxic/Rocky/Volcanic/Shadow Moons (always).

Do not attempt to mine them without a well-upgraded Mining Laser or advanced Morphite Manipulator or higher. A basic Matter Manipulator (with +300% speed upgrade) will need ~3 minutes to mine this block.

In vanilla Starbound these blocks were unobtainable (they didn't drop as items), but FU makes them obtainable.
