ID asteroids

Asteroids are a biome found in Asteroid Belts and the Space layer of most planets. They have ore (sometimes of a higher tier than the planet itself, e.g. Tungsten Ore on tier 1 planets), including Diamonds.

In Frackin' Universe, Asteroid Fields have a Tier (1-6). The tier defines what ores will be generated.

There are seemingly two types of Asteroids Fields - Barren and Metal. Metal asteroids have an abundance of common ores such as Gold Ore, Silver Ore, Iron Ore, Copper Ore, Tungsten Ore, Lead, Magnesite, and others, while Barren asteroids are very scarce in any ore. It is impossible to know what type of ore generation an Asteroid Belt has until you beam down. The commonality ratio between these types is not known, but Metal Asteroid Fields appear to be less common.

Tips

  • Asteroids are best navigated in a Mech (using its flight mode).
  • If you want to quickly reach the asteroids in the Space layer of a planet, you can place your ship into orbit around that planet, and then fall to the bottom of your shipworld. You will likely need some form of fall damage immunity (such as Parasol or Oddball Sphere) to land on the asteroids safely.
