Tenant rent are gift items that you can get from vanilla tenants (summoned by vanilla Colony Deed) every 15-30 minutes. This doesn't apply to tenants who pay rent to Colony Core.
FU adds Colony Deed Rent Collector, which makes demanding rent from tenants more convenient. Alternative (from vanilla Starbound) is to approach every Colony Deed and interact with it.
