The massive spider is a very dangerous wall crawling giant spider that spits poisonous webs at the player that expand into web blocks on contact with a surface. These web blocks are capable of slowing players down to a halt. Also capable of firing several large globs of toxic puss that leave puddles of the stuff on contact with a surface, dealing damage and inflicting the debuff "Eeew" that deals 6 damage every second. Lastly, the Massive Spider will periodically rush toward the player to bite them and inflict contact damage.

It tends to spawn in underground spider nests and is guaranteed to spawn in a certain area of the precursor dungeon. Not to be confused with its boss counterpart, the Megarachnid.

It is immune to all elemental debuffs except cosmic, immune to pus, immune to web slowing, and it has a base protection value of 25.

Fighting

It is advised to use fire based weaponry agaisnt this creature as it will deal bonus 50% damage, while other damage types are significantly resisted.

Additionally, poison resistance is highly advised due to it's spit's toxicity.

Luna's Lab Notes

~ When walking in areas without background tiles, the Massive Spider creates a layer of Spider Silk behind it. This can be useful if one has need for Spider Silk as you can capture one of these creatures and go for a stroll on the surface - mining all the background blocks as you go. Additionally, this could be considered annoying as it gets anywhere and everywhere there isn't a background block.

~ The Massive Spider explodes into pools of Toxic Pus upon death, shooting the repulsive liquid a fair distance to coat anything near it upon its expiration.

~ Technically considered a flying monster, this creature can build a web and follow players into the air however high. (hilarious to watch it shoot down and devour stray birds [finally getting what they deserve]).
