What is Frackin' Universe/FU?

This mod (or megamod) is centered on science, discovery, exploration, and experimentation. Although players may struggle in their discovery path, we can always learn from our mistakes and successes, no matter how insignificant they may be. So make sure to keep going through the path of science. We hope you all enjoy this megamod from Sayter and the many contributors around!

General tips for playing with FU

• Complete the Tricorder tutorials. They answer many common questions and reward players with valuable research and materials, so it is highly recommended to complete them.

• The ore detector and its upgrades can help with searching for specific ores and minerals.

• Especially in the early game, make sure to mine most minerals you encounter. It's better to upgrade lab equipment and crafting stations early, as doing so later in the game can become trivial.

• Do NOT underestimate the power of the Sifter and Rock Breaker!! These two items can provide a LOT of materials that might be hard to come by through other means; at times, they can also net you more ores and minerals than mining. These two items alone provide sufficient incentive to develop the Electronics research tree.

• As a general rule, it is better to sift/crush blocks than extract them. Although the latter may be more consistent, the former is much more rewarding.

• Research what you need, not what you can. Especially in early game, research points are precious. Don't waste points on technology that you are not planning or are unable to use at the moment.

Tips for playing Multiplayer with FU

• Quests are NOT synchronized between characters in Multiplayer: Each player must accept and fulfill conditions of the quests/missions and complete them individually; this means if you are doing the starter quests, each character must accomplish the tasks individually to proceed. (This is ESPECIALLY important for the first dungeon, where each character will need a key to proceed!)

• Be conscious of the technological differences between your characters: A new character may not be far along in research or have the capacity to handle rougher planets compared to a much more established character. This encourages advanced characters to help new characters start up, but the research system still encourages newer players to explore and learn so that they can eventually catch up to become well-tenured characters themselves.

• Work together to accomplish tasks: With more players in one game, more possibilities open up to handle threats that you would normally struggle to take on alone. Use this to your advantage, and see what new tactics and techniques you and your friends can come up with!
