The precursor are an unplayable, ancient, dimension-hopping alien race that are genetically and mechanically enhanced. Upon entering this universe they began enslaving the inhabitant races, but were ultimately destroyed by the Elders; their war with the elders, in tandem with with some mysterious disease, caused the virtual extinction of the precursor race. The war between the Elder and Precursor races resulted in the obliteration of their respective homeworlds and the extinction of both species.

Appearance

The precursors appear to be themed around lunari and protocite crystals power (unknown if they merely adapted to this universe's energy sources or these were always present), which makes their entire appearance appear to be based around a radioactive radiant golden yellow. Densinium seems to be the black alloy commonly used, as no other material correctly handles protocite energies.

Precursors as a race appear to be based on the sci-fi side of cosmic mythology, where they, as extremely advanced aliens, appear to be mortal gods; this is in contrast to the Elders, who appear to be incomprehensibly powerful gods. The Precursors had difficulty surviving against the power of the Elders and resorted to sociopolitical manipulation out of desperation (though they were eliminated regardless).

Their infrastructure seemed to revolve around enslavement for economic purposes, and technological prowess to ascertain dominance. They would build multiple generations of machinery and they themselves are almost mechanical by nature. They may have sustained themselves with energy from precursor quantum fuel (unconfirmed), which gave their machinery a "magitech" appearance.

They primarily used advanced radioactivity-based weaponry. Their armor appears to be made of an unknown metallic substance and is supplemented with dark decorative cloth.

Underneath the armor they appear to be a mix between a cyclopean insectoid and a robotic creature. It may also be assumed that the physics of their natural dimension where slightly different to the point where a single-eyed mutation was preferable to a stereoscopic one.

Surprisingly, individuals of the Precursor race can be summoned using a Colony Deed or Colony Deed Mark II with sufficient Precursor furniture. If you try to interact with the Precursor, they will mostly say "I have nothing to say to you." There are times, however, when they say other things, but not very often. Despite the fact that Precursors are not a playable race, they can be part of your crew, due to the fact that Precursor tenants act as any other tenants in that by doing enough quests, they will join your crew.

Behavior

The few survivors of the race wars are EXTREMELY xenophobic, even attacking each other. As such, they will attempt to shoot on sight.

Lore

Many books made by this race are scattered on Proto Worlds (of their making), but almost always found on Cyberspheres (of their + Ancient race make). These also appear to have ruined cities on them (always), and ignoring the planet's primarily metal makeup there is a slew of advanced technology. Couple this with the age (oldest age is 500 million years) and things start looking a bit towards Precursors as a perpetrator.
