Unlocked by Homemade Techs (Engineering tree).

Emergency Bounce tech will automatically activate when you are falling too quickly. You will be encased in a bouncy bubble that is 100% immune to fall damage.

Being inside the bubble drains your energy (until you land), and if your energy is completely spent, then immunity will turn off. Therefore it won't save you from falling into a huge pit many screens deep.

Limitations

Emergency Bounce might be unsafe on planets with extremely high gravity (such as Gas Giants), when under the raining Orange Grav-Liquid or when holding a Pocket Anchor.

You should be careful when relying on Emergency Bounce in the core layer (lowest layer of the planet): if you blindly jump into the chasms, you may accidentally fall into a Lava ocean.
